The Ebb Tide project was launched by the Shetland Moving Image Archive, in partnership with Shetland Arts and the Shetland Heritage Association. I was one of eight local moving image artists who were commissioned to produce short films as part of the Commonwealth Games Cultural Programme 2014.
I wrote, filmed and edited "Elysia" over a period of 3 months, which included locally sourcing vintage costumes, props and suitable filming locations. I also worked with a local musician to commission an original score for my short film.
As well as being screened in Glasgow, the Ebb Tide films were screened at the 2014 Shetland film festival, "Screenplay" and in venues across the island. From 3000 international submissions, ’Elysia’ was one of 104 films shortlisted for screening at the 2015 XpoNorth creative industries festival in Inverness.
More information about the project can be found on the Shetland Arts website.
More information about the animation techniques I used can be found on the Shetland Moving Image Archive Blog.
